Watercolour scribbles...

Hello everyone, hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Despite the forecast for heavy rain this morning the sun is shining and it is a lovely autumn day here.

I love watercolour and for these creations I have used some really earthy watercolour tones of brown and grey.

They are all made using some scrunched up paper to use as a kind of dabber to apply the watercolour. This has resulted in a mix up of the colours and this mottled effect.

The really fun part was adding some intuitive calligraphy. Although my hand writing is not good at least I can do this kind of random scribble.

The flowers are by Hobbycraft and sentiment by Stampin Up. I love the grungey look combined with the pretty white  flowers.

For the scribble I used black India ink. I love this medium. It reacts differently to ordinary watercolour and is perfect for calligraphy. I love it because it stays a true black when dry.

I extended the watercolour right round the card...

I shall be entering my card into this week's Less Is More challenge called # 348 Watercolour.

I'm still in the process of tweaking my new blog so please bear with me. In the meantime
I hope the sun is shining wherever you are!

  2. Wow! These cards sure have a dramatic impact Eleanor. Your arty use of the watercolour is so striking (must try that technique myself soon) and your calligraphy is incredible. Those swirling and looping lines really complement the water colours. Love how you continued it around the back for the card for a truly professional look. Thanks for joining us at Less is More xx

  4. Your card definitely has the wow factor, Eleanor. What an interesting watercolour technique. It gives such amazing texture. And so fun how you continued it to the backside. Beautiful calligraphy work too... something I would love to try one day. Thank you for joining us this week at Less is More. Trina xx
